Life lately has been a rollercoaster ride, to say the least. As much as I love sharing exciting news and updates with you all, trust me to let you in on the sh*tty aspects of my life as well.
We are currently in the middle of May, but I cannot write this life update blog post without emphasising April. It started rough, but as my birthday approaches in just a couple of weeks, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of excitement and optimism. Life has taken an unexpected turn, and I’ve embarked on a new journey that has the potential to bring about positive changes.
Let me take you through the recent events and share why things are starting to look pretty good in my life lately.
Trials and Resilience – Bruises, Bugs, and Bouncing Back
Life has a way of throwing curveballs when we least expect it. At the start of April, I fell ill, but it wasn’t anything too serious (or maybe it was, but I want to remember it as the latter). As if dealing with that one wasn’t enough, my dad and I got into an accident, and it was kind of my fault. Well, not really, but it could’ve been avoided. One crazy night, my “illness” started acting up again, so my dad and I decided to go to the hospital. As we drove out of our gate, we were hit by a drunk driver in another car. All of this happened at 3-4 AM. I was in complete shock, but thankfully, no one was hurt.
A Leap of Faith: Saying Goodbye to the 9-to-5 Grind
Sometimes, life presents us with moments of clarity that lead us to make bold decisions. And that’s precisely what happened to me recently. After much reflection, I made the courageous choice to quit my job. It wasn’t an easy decision, but I realised that staying in a situation that didn’t align with my passions and aspirations would only hold me back from reaching my full potential. So, I took a leap of faith and decided to pave my own path towards a more fulfilling future.
In my previous blog post, I wrote about how I felt stagnant in my career and wasn’t enjoying it anymore.
To be honest, I have no bad words to say about my previous company- everyone was great, from the management to my coworkers. But the tech space is not easy, and after working there for almost a year and a half, I just couldn’t do it anymore. I started to HATE writing, and my anxiety was through the roof. I worked as a content manager, where I wrote articles on cryptocurrency and web3. While it was nice writing about something new, that industry was not necessarily something I was overjoyed about. If you are into crypto, you probably know how crazy the market has been over the past year, and trust me- it’s not easy on the writers as well; it was quite depressing to write about.
Overall, I’m grateful to have experienced working there right out of Uni. I basically manifested that job, and I got it in less than two months. I am thankful to have landed a job as a tech marketer earning six figures monthly straight out of the university. Now, it’s on to bigger and better things.
