New Year, New Me?

Although this January seems to be going by so fast, it’s still the first month of the year so happy new year everyone! It’s 2019. 365 days gone by just like that.

2018 was a rollercoaster of a year. For some people, it was the best year of their lives while for others, it was a tragic year. If you fall into any of these categories, just take a deep breath and be thankful for life.

In the year 2018, we all witnessed a lot of tragedies such as the loss of different prominent people. And for you personally, a lot of things might not have played out how you expected it, but do not give up. It is a new year with new opportunities. Let old things pass away and reset your life.

Today’s blog post says, “New year, new me?” Every year we all say this phrase indicating that we are going into the New Year as a new person. That is, getting rid of toxic traits and throwing away bad friends and generally getting rid of bad energy.

But the thing is, is it really a new year, new me? The fact that we use this same phrase every year doesn’t that mean that we aren’t really getting rid of the bad energy? Or do we get new bad energy during the year? Dropping bad friends just to gain new, still negative friends?

We say that we are cutting people off to live a positive life in the New Year but we still manage to say this every single year, still not changing anything. Yes, it is not easy to get rid of people or your personal toxic traits. You might not like a certain thing about yourself such as jealousy or you might just want to improve yourself like building your self-confidence. It requires a lot of work for sure.

It is very important to go into the New Year with positive vibes and a new outlook on life. So yes, throw away those bad friends that are not good for you or your mental health. You’re tired of being the shy type? Get out there and gain your self-confidence! You’re failing classes? Hit the books! You want to lose some weight? Don’t procrastinate, hit the gym! But always remember, you are beautiful no matter what and that goes for all genders. Anything you feel you do not like about yourself or feel that you wish to improve on a certain aspect of your life, do it! It’s a new year! It’s another 365 days to better your life. Surround yourself with people who are good for you and will continue to push you forward.

If you have any contributions or you do not agree with anything I’ve said, feel free to contribute in the comment section. Once again, happy new year. And don’t forget to secure the bag. #SecureTheBag2019

What are you getting rid of and leaving in 2018 as we proceed with 2019? Let me know!

  1. 👏👏👏👏👏👏… At some point, it’ll become “New Year, same me”… The same me trying to be better, the same me that keeps helping and reaching out when I can.. The same hustling me, the same consistent and persistent me… New year, same me..

    1. LOL. Think to yourself, is that what you really need now. Not want but need. Will buying a Benz solve all your problems? Both internal and external? Thank you for reading🖤

  2. A really good read! Articulated very well. This seems to be a lot of people’s go to phrase When the year is approaching and going into the new year. Most people set unrealistic goals that they can’t fulfill, so what they’d hope to achieve in the new year never comes to fruition. Set small goals, stage by stage, making it easier to complete realistically. So come the end of the year you can reflect on your goals and know you have truly achieved what you set out to, and go again the following year! Happy new year, make the year count!

  3. Preach! I stopped doing “New Year, New Me” and resolutions a long time ago because at the end of the year, I ended up doing close to nothing. Now I sit back and let God lead me. Now, it’s new year, same me but a more mature self.

  4. So happy this was the first thing you talked about. I feel like most people don’t even try to better themselves in the new year and just form some” new year new me” crap because other people are doing it or people do decide on a resolution and then just give up because the new year hype has died down. Me personally, I’m not a fan of the whole “new year new me”. I feel like if there is something in your life you want to change then don’t wait till the end of the year to change it. Sha that’s just my opinion. Anyways what’s your New Years resolution?(that is if you have any)

    1. I totally agree with you. Thank you so much🖤 and I personally do not have a New Years resolution. I just want to be a better me

  5. amazing write up. I do not disagree w anything you said. People should make conscious efforts to let go off bad energy instead of just saying it
